Twinkies are a golden sponge cake filled with a creamy vanilla filling. They were invented in 1930, and aside from a couple of short issues (and one rather long one!), they've been in production ever since - from the bakery to the store every day to ensure a continuous, fresh supply of Twinkies in the United States. After their recent discontinuation of production, we're all happy to hear that they've made "the sweetest comeback in history ever!"
